What is a Christian actually bound to believe, and what falls within the realm of lawful dissent? In On the Right to Dissent , Paul Facey explores the limits of intellectual-ethical obligation and the structure of conscience, asking what may rightly be demanded of believers in matters of theology, history, and public doctrine. Through classic Christian categories, he clarifies how conscience binds, how it errs, and how Christians may navigate disagreement without surrendering moral agency.

Facey then applies these principles to a range of fraught modern controversies—including the received narrative of the Second World War, racial egalitarianism, the “Jewish question,” and even National Socialism—treating each as a test case for how conscience functions under pressure. The work concludes with practical guidance for Christians who dissent in public: how to argue well, avoid coercive orthodoxies, bear the burden of proof, and maintain integrity in hostile environments.

This is a quality read for all Christian men to feel confident in their historical worldview and to give their educated opinions on topics considered taboo, post 1945. Holding to an opinion beyond today's overton window does not make one a lesser Christian as long as he holds to the eternal truths of Scripture.
